Hello, and welcome to my blog! I'm Eva, and today I want to delve into a topic that's integral to our journey of spiritual awakening—the ego.

The Role of the Ego

The ego is a fundamental part of the human system and has been with us since a very young age when we first started identifying with it.  The ego's primary purpose is our survival—it wants to keep us alive, both physically and emotionally. This survival mode drives many of our behaviors and reactions throughout life.

Feeding the Ego

As we grow, we continuously feed this energy structure, which I visualize as being at the center of our chest. Over time, the ego becomes stronger and more dominant, and we often mistake it for our true self. The ego defends us against perceived threats, not just physically, but also in social interactions, where it insists on being right and controlling outcomes.

The Ego vs. Beingness

Our true essence, or beingness, is more about allowing life to flow naturally. It resides in the background, filled with intelligence and a sense of ease. In contrast, the ego has its own agenda, often driven by the need to feel important and superior. It’s this conflict between the ego and our true being that we encounter on the path to spiritual awakening.

Diminishing the Ego

Through spiritual practices like meditation, we start withdrawing energy from the ego and redirecting it towards our true self. This process can be sudden or gradual. In my experience, during a significant shift in my spiritual journey, I felt the ego being pulled out from my chest, leaving a void that eventually filled with light and a higher truth.

The Ego’s Resistance

Even as we diminish the ego's influence, it may still try to assert itself from the background. This can manifest as lingering habits and patterns that take time to dissolve. The journey involves recognizing these ego structures and allowing them to fall away naturally.

Personal Experience

When my ego receded, it initially felt unsettling, almost like a part of me was dying. However, this discomfort was temporary. Over time, I adjusted to the new state of being, where the ego was no longer in control. Today, I hardly notice its presence, and my life feels more aligned with my true essence.

Moving Forward

On the path of spiritual awakening, it’s important to remember that the ego means well—it’s just part of being human. By consistently practicing spiritual disciplines, we can gently guide the ego to its proper place, allowing our true self to shine through.

Join the Journey

If you have questions or want to share your experiences with the ego, feel free to leave a comment. I recently recorded a meditation designed to help you withdraw energy from the ego and bring it into the background. This practice can prepare your system for a smoother transition if a sudden shift occurs. The guided meditation is posted below.

Thank you for reading, and I look forward to continuing this journey with you. Stay tuned for more insights and meditations to support your spiritual growth.

With love,

Eva
